Team
The Maize name originates from the glory days while Steve was at Michigan. Uniforms will be consistent with the Michigan color scheme and style. The Maize Baseball team first formed in 2002 when the 16U team mainly comprised with 14U players went 25-1-1 and ranked number one in power, runs scored and runs allowed ratio.
Cypress Infield Academy started the tradition in the Cypress area in 2009 for select, elite and premier level players in the 9/10U division. We are currently working with players that are league age 11. This is not “Daddy Ball” as no coaches will have players on the team. The teams will be led by Steve Finken and coached by former collegiate players Kevin Crawford and Brandon Finken. Kevin played his collegiate baseball at Lamar and East Texas while Brandon finished his career at Blinn College. The teams will be comprised of talented players in the Cypress area and practices will be held at the Cypress Infield Academy. Team will practice twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays from 6 to 7:30pm. Each player will receive one individual lesson per month. We will play in Sunday double header leagues and compete in one tournament a month.
Our practices are efficient with limited stand around time. The boys stay in motion working on drills to improve their defense and offense abilities.
Team Try Outs:
We are currently evaluating players to round out our teams. Call Steve Finken, 832-928-6806 for individual evaluation. Individual evaluations are 45 minutes long and cost $50.
Fees:
$135 per player per month. This cost covers training time and does not include uniforms, bags, shoes, tournaments or league fees etc. Additional costs will be evenly distributed among all players. Fundraising is the teams option.
